Don't Get Scammed! Shop with Confidence at MJM Magic!

Here at MJM Magic, I try to make it my life's mission to always be upfront and HONEST with our customers.  The point of this email is that I want to reassure you that we take great measures to protect both your privacy AND your financial information.

With the holiday season upon us, and most of us spending a lot of money with online purchases, there's never been a more crucial time to make sure you're shopping with a PROTECTED business.

Recently, there was a very well known magic store that essentially has gone out of business (or more aptly put, they were SHUT DOWN by the Federal Government).  I was shocked to find out that they were actually STEALING financial information from their customers, and secretly charging money to their credit cards behind their backs.  Over a two year period, they stole over HALF A MILLION dollars from their customers.  This is a company who has been in the industry for DECADES, and I was appalled to hear about their dishonest behavior.

This is obviously unforgivable in my eyes.  When a customer trusts you by making a purchase with their hard earned money, a store needs to not only protect that confidentiality, but they need to GUARANTEE IT.

Well, this is why I am writing to you.  I want you to know that at MJM Magic, we GUARANTEE the safety of your privacy and financial information.

How can we do this?

1. First of all, whenever you do anything on our website that involves passwords or making payments, our website encrypts those pages.  We use the same type of encryption that banks and credit card companies use on their own websites to protect customer data.

Most reputable magic stores do this.  However, we take it ONE STEP FURTHER with the following:

2. MJM Magic is what's known as "PCI COMPLIANT."  PCI stands for "Payment Card Industry."  That means that we are audited by a third party company who ENSURES that we are following all the codes and regulations which are needed to protect our customer's financial data.

For example, when you submit your credit card to us for making an order, not only do we encrypt that data during the transaction, but WE DON'T STORE THAT INFORMATION ANYWHERE IN OUR DATABASE.  That's right.  We don't keep your credit card information on file where others can grab it.

(This is how most companies rip off customers.  They keep your credit card information on file, where a dishonest employee can access it, or possibly an outside hacker that gets access to the database through a backdoor program).

We also go through very rigorous auditing by security professionals who review our account every three months, to always ensure that you're safe to shop at MJM Magic.

To prove what we're saying, you can click this link to see our Certification:

https://www.securitymetrics.com/site_certificate.adp?s=74.52.108.34&i=846875

Don't just take a companies word that they are protecting you.  They should be able to prove it with certification like we have above.

Any company can say, "Of course we protect you!  We would never store your information online."  But can they prove it?  Can they show you a third party certificate who audits their server and ensures that they're telling the truth?

So the bottom line is that I take protecting your information very seriously.  When I personally shop online, I make sure that the company who takes my information is PCI Compliant and HTTPS protected.  If they aren't, then I make sure that I shop elsewhere, or use a protected service like PayPal to send payment to them, since PayPal will protect you as the consumer against most fraudulent practices.

So hopefully this email sheds some light on your protection with MJM Magic, and opens your eyes to the dangers of online shopping without protection.  If you do any other online shopping, be very careful about shopping with ANYONE who isn't PCI Compliant.  Just because they secure their website with an HTTPS encryption doesn't mean that they don't keep your credit card details in a database where others can access it.

Being PCI Compliant isn't easy, and we were surprised at how many exploits and loopholes are out there in the online world that can allow a hacker to access data.  So just be aware that at MJM Magic, we are PCI Compliant and we want you to shop with confidence on our website.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me!  I am only writing this message to you because of how SHOCKED I was to hear about another big magic company who deceived its customers for over half a million dollars.

Your friend in magic,
- Jeff Mash
