PERSONAL PEEK

It's been awhile since I've included one of these Personal Peek segments into the newsletter.   I use these to share personal or non-business related things happening around here.  (Many of our customers have been shopping with us for 17 years, so you're like family to us.......so we like sharing our lives with you!)

As a father of two daughters (16 and 13), this was the year that I was preparing myself for.   This year, my oldest daughter got her FIRST BOYFRIEND.  What a shock to the system that was for me!   However, the boy is super nice, and get this: he even asked for Brandi's and my permission to date her BEFORE asking my daughter.   We were blown away at that show of respect, especially in this day and age, so we gave them our blessing to be "Boyfriend and Girlfriend."

Now TODAY, as I am typing this, that same daughter is at the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles), taking her driving test to get her license!

And later today, she gets her first official JOB.

So boyfriend, license, and job.....all within the last month.   Big changes in a person's life, and I couldn't be prouder.

On a sadder note, my youngest daughter just dealt with her pet hamster dying last night.    She was really strong, up until the point we buried it in our backyard and said a little prayer for it.  Then she lost it and had trouble sleeping last night.   I had to lay with her until after midnight just to comfort her.   Nothing is worse for a parent than trying to take the pain away from your kids, especially emotional pain which can only be cured with love and support.

Thanks for listening and I'll try to have more of these Personal Peeks throughout the year when I need to get things off my chest.  :)
