The effect is as clean as it gets. Your spectator names any color they can imagine not just red or blue, but truly any color. They then freely select a card from the deck. With no suspicious moves, the back of their chosen card is revealed to have changed into the exact color they named. It's set aside as a completely personal, impossible moment.

A second card is selected. When you turn over that odd-backed card that's been sitting in plain view the entire time, it's no longer the original selection it has now transformed into the second card they just chose.

An audience member selects a card. Instead of a suit and value, it's instead called by an emotion or feeling. And because of the devilish marking system, you'll always know what they chose. For example, if they selected "Patience" then you're already able to draw certain conclusions about their personality that makes the revelation electrifying.
